the brief

We successfully designed their previous workspace so the Dental and Pharmacy Councils turned to us to design their new office – a dynamic and flexible workspace in a new building with a reduced floor plate. A key focus was to entice staff back into the office post Covid.

“It was great to work with a team who understood our requirements. The team were excellent in going the extra mile to make sure every detail was delivered consistent with the concept and design.”

Michael Pead, Chief Executive, Pharmacy Council Te Pou Whakamana Kaimatū o Aotearoa

the concept

Our design is based on a natural theme, using light timber and bright indigenous plant murals and motifs to create a relaxed and engaging atmosphere. We developed the idea of connectivity across the space and the organization with the main work areas and meeting rooms located around a central communal hub – the focal point of the office.

what we did

Operable walls create a flexible space that can be transformed from smaller meeting rooms into a staff breakout area, to a formal boardroom. Warm natural finishes contrast with pops of colour from acoustic ceiling panels and full-size wall murals, inspired by images of indigenous medicinal plants. The plant motif is extended through frosting on meeting room walls and doors, and areas are partitioned with floor to ceiling planters.

the results

The new workspace provides an engaging place to work and has enticed staff back into the workplace following Covid. The space is relaxed and inviting providing a range of spaces to work including an informal lounge area, high tables, and quiet spaces for Zoom meetings, all in easy flow areas within a small building footprint.
