FishServe and Seafood New Zealand
new office fitout

the brief

FishServe, Seafood New Zealand and allied groups were moving to a new location and asked us to design their new workspace to bring all their staff onto one floor to encourage a collegial environment and cross group collaboration.

the challenges

Our design is based on a sea theme, moving from the shore to deep water. The reception is the ‘beach area’ in sandy tones with glazing film representing dune grasses. Moving further into the fitout, a pale blue colour palette depicts shallow water and progresses to the deepest blue of the ocean, with glazing film changing from motifs of grasses to seaweed and kelp.

what we did

To cater for the needs of the different organizations and their different working styles, we designed a variety of spaces. There is a mix of highly divided office and meeting spaces at one end, a large open plan working area in the centre, and a welcoming reception space next to the lift lobby with operable walls to allow flexibility for gatherings. The main kitchen breakout space is designed to make the most of the stunning views.

the results

This group of organizations have a new home which meets their diverse needs and provides a place for their taonga and to display the items related to their work. The theming and colour palette brings the whole space together to create a bespoke working environment, encouraging staff back into the workplace.
