the briefStructural: To provide the architectural solutions to a seismic upgrade of the Westpac Building on Lambton Quay. Base Build: The podium floors were vacated by the existing tenant. Whilst the strengthening enhancement works were being undertaken the floors, including the toilets, were completely refurbished. Stair: In addition to the structural upgrade to the stairs we completed some fire and accessibility compliance works. These works were triggered by the building consent process. the challengesThe biggest challenge revolved around working through a solution for replacing some external block work walls with a lightweight cladding. This wall had to be watertight, fire rated and durable. The challenge was that it had to be built from the inside only, whereas walls of this nature are normally built from the outside. |
