Mayfair House for Precinct Properties

the brief

As part of a review of the Precinct portfolio, Holmes Consulting recommended improvements to Mayfair House seismic performance through the installation of high tensile steel across the building. We were involved as lead consultant, coordinating the in-ceiling services around the new structural elements.

the challenges

The programme of works developed by RCP was very tight because the work needed to be carried out on work floors. The work was completed mainly out of hours in 2 floors at a time. Some of the work involved bolting through from one floor to the next so disruption needed to be controlled across two floors simultaneously.

what we did

The hoardings were installed and the ceiling tiles and grid removed in small sections. Steel straps were installed across the top of the existing air conditioning units and bolted to large brackets at the perimeter. Careful attention was paid to the path of the steel across the in-ceiling services.

the results

Mayfair House has had an uplift in NBS by the implementation of a simple solution across occupied floors making this building valuable space in a location close to the government centre.

more than great design

To us, architecture is about the entire process - from asking the right questions to getting the squeaky door fixed after move in day. We take our clients on a journey so they feel as if they are part of the solution.

All our architects are members of the NZIA. Each year all members undergo continuing professional development to ensure skills and practices are completely up-to-date with current industry standards. As 'hand-on' architects we are trained to promote ourselves as the single point of contact for your project. An NZIA registered architect, with more than 20 years experience, will guide you through all stages of the project.
